Members

This list will become more filled-in as training and operating guidelines are established. If you are interested in getting involved, here are a few ways:

  • Attend annual Spotter training in Joplin given by the NWS
  • Come to a Jasper County ARES meeting
  • Check-in to a Jasper County ARES Net on any Monday, 8p, 147.210 repeater
  • SkyWarn-specific meetings and nets may be planned in the future, watch this page for information

Leadership

Jason Arends – K0JAA – is organizing SkyWarn in Jasper Co, as AEC for Jasper Co ARES.

Net Control

Net Control operators are needed – at this time, typically one of the ARES coordinators or members will run a SkyWarn net, however having a number of experienced operators will help us fill-in when they are unavailable or as back-ups if they lose power. Ideally there will be a primary and backup on each net, to allow one person to relay to the NWS while the other runs the net.

Trained Spotters

We will be establishing a roster of spotters and what training they have completed. While we encourage the public to participate, completing spotter training and participating in nets adds a level of trust, experience, and validity to your reports, which we pass on to the NWS along with the report given.
